The harsh reality of the workplace

So, the government has stuff in place to make sure you don't sack people when they don't deserve it and stuff like that (and to be honest, those systems make sure you can't sack someone even when they do deserve it).  That's all well and good, but gosh it makes you feel like you're being harsh on someone when you are trying to get rid of them.  Examples etc etc .. you essentially have to paint the person as the most horrible being on the face of the earth and at the same time so *you* don't feel that horrible, you have to give them good examples of work.

For gods sakes.  If you could just take someone's probation for what it is (probation), give a few examples of why that person's not suitable for the job, and say "see ya later", wouldn't it be so much better for everyone?

Blah.  I feel like some sort of evil monster conspiring to put someone out of work.
