Dakota Claire (“Cody”) was born on Wednesday night just as the subject says
Things didn’t go entirely as planned even though we didn’t even have a plan *laugh*. After our appointment with the doctor on Tuesday afternoon, we were booked in for induction on Sunday night. First thing Wednesday morning, Batty felt something a bit like her waters breaking. We did a stack of last minute stuff just in case it was the real thing (she was positive for Group B Strep which means being on antibiotics during labour once the waters break) and then headed off to the hospital.
Long story short, the labour had started on its own (waters were broken) but from there, they had to give the hormones to start up the contractions. We arrived at the hospital at 11am and by 10pm we’d essentially gone backwards (not even mentioning three failed epidurals) and we were up for a Caesar (one failed spinal block and one successful one).
Cody scored 9 and 10 on her APGAR test so that explained the screaming from the minute she was born
She’s a feisty young one and we’re struggling to get enough sleep but she’s relatively easy to settle when she gets worked up. Trick from here is making sure she doesn’t GET worked up!
Anyways, that’s enough of an update for now because I need to get me some sleep. First of many pictures:
