Bits 'n' stuff
It’s been a big couple of weeks, that’s for sure.
We’ve all been sick, once again. On the count of three, let’s all say “surprise”. Or not. Ickle’s been out of action with a virus + ear infection. Top that off with teething and she’s been one happy little camper. This is probably payback for the first two teeth being such a breeze *laugh*
Batty was struck down by a cold of sorts as well, then I scored tonsilitis + pharyngitis – all in all, not particularly great timing
As much as I’d have loved to give Batty time to just rest while she was sick, I suddenly found myself barely able to breathe, unable to swallow and generally unable to move my mouth or head. Fun for all the family *laugh* .. the doctor saw fit to give me two penicillin shots and then dump me on uber penicillin for the next week to try and get rid of it. Still knocked me around for about a week, so there went my plans of letting Batty rest.
Fortunately we’re all almost back on track now. Grunge is still a bit grotty with the tail end of hers and I think her teeth are giving her a rancid time which just isn’t so good for anyone.
Aside from our monthly tirade of illness..
Cody’s 1st birthday is fast approaching, so the preparations for that are also ramping up. The Nounas offered to let us have her party there which is just bloody awesome :) We are having a petting zoo and a gabillion people over and they’re taking everything in their stride .. gosh we love the Nounas *laugh*. Hoping the day goes ahead as smoothly as her Ladybug Picnic - even if not as smoothly, half as smoothly would be fine too. Let’s be honest, her Ladybug Picnic was a masterpiece
We got a new itty bitty laptop to go away with to make sure that no matter where we were, we have Internet access (hopefully via a hotel/wireless hotspot) and backups of our photos. Last thing I wanted to happen was something to happen to one of our cameras and all of our photos. We have storage online for photos, a tiny external drive to take with us and the cameras itself. If we lose a camera, that’s fine - they’re replaceable. Photos aren’t so much replaceable, so they’re the important part.
Work is mostly same ol’, same ol’. My team leader goes away on leave for 6 weeks shortly, which means I get to step up and learn the ropes. Quite excited (in that petrified kinda way) about that, however I know I’ve got backup all around me, so I’m quietly confident too.
On the topic of backup, there’s always changes at work, staff-wise, however one of the latest ones actually has an impact on me. My manager is moving on to a new position which she’s every bit deserving of
As much as her leaving will leave a massive hole in the team, I think we’re all a little better off for having worked with/for her. I’m a little bit devvo inside about it, though so very proud as well :) I guess we’ll see what the future holds for leadership of our team.
Soooo .. that’s about it from our little world.
