mmmm sleeeeeep
Been a big week/weekend. Organised a few changes at work such that I might be able to tolerate another 6 months without destroying my life. Big thing is less stress and that's already been a marked improvement. After that, got my choice of job in Sydney or Adelaide if I am not happy doing what I'm doing so that's even better. Its nice to be able to say (and mean it) that not everything's about money.
Been managing an ex-employee as a contractor on his second time round in the company as well. That's taken a fair bit out of me but to be honest, its a different kind of stress and as long as the direct responsibility for the work he's doing isn't mine, I can deal with it :) My biggest thing is just that I'm tired of having to do stuff with little to no downtime to keep everyone happy. The stress in that area has taken its toll big time.
Other than work, its been a sad and also busy weekend. On Friday, our friends Chris and Jo lost their little boy Zack. Zack was born with a few complications and spent most of his little life in hospital but like Renee said, we never saw so many happy pictures of a baby! :) I'm happy for the time that Chris and Jo had with Zack and in the same breath I'm so incredibly sad that they've lost him. Honestly didn't expect it to hit me that hard, but maybe its cos we're planning for kids too that it hit home a little more.
Been a beehive of activity over the weekend. I dreamt on Friday night of a little kitten - silver tabby with white patches near his eyes, so we ducked into the Animal Welfare League (like the RSPCA) to have a look. Sure enough, little guy with white patches near his eyes :) Called my mum to come see him - I envisage papers floating down and a cloud of dust in her wake. We bought the little guy for her and then some toys and headed around to play with him - he's SO cute. He fits in the palm of my had, he's that little (8 weeks).
Saturday night was a fare-thee-well for the guys leaving work so I headed out to dinner with them. Good night - shame about being on call and not drinking anyways, but still good dinner :)
Sunday morning was out kitten-sitting Oscar (he had a new name by Sunday morning). Damn he's cute! :) Then laptop hunting with Sal, then home, then nap, then dinner again, then work overnight, then back in to work this morning *puff*.
Imagine being social! :)
That's pretty much my update for now. I know its a bit "did this, did that" but hey.. Its not often I actually have that much to say about my weekends! :) Will blog more later ;)
