Update-a-thon

So much has happened over the last week - its almost scary :)

Last Thursday was review day. Went probably as well as I could have expected, bearing in mind that whilst I've worked my ass off over the last 6 months, I didn't achieve many of my objectives at all. That said, I was still officially promoted to Network Lead, to commence at the end of July after some formal training .. w00t! :)

Last Friday night was the culmination of a lot of the work I've been doing of late - migration onto a new firewall in one of our environments. After a long night getting the thing in, we had a long day fixing stuff on Saturday (on very little sleep), a long Sunday fixing stuff and then the high hopes that everything would be resolved by Monday morning since we worked so much over the weekend on the final issues after the implementation. More on that later.

At 3pm Saturday was pens down to meet a friend of Renee's who may well change our lives in the very near future. I won't say too much about him in here, but we will put together all the relevant information in another forum for those doing the same thing later :) Suffice to say that Renee's friend is a really nice guy who has "his shit together" and we had a really good time while he was in town.

By Monday morning, I hadn't really seen Renee a whole lot and I was exhausted. I was never destined to be home on Monday night with Renee, that's for sure :P I got home at 11am on Tuesday and spent the day napping while everyone else who could be involved in a firewall rollback, performed a firewall update and I got to spend the night with Renee finally :D

Other than that, my week was fairly quiet, with a buildup to this weekend. I enrolled in a Senior First Aid course at State Training Services here in Adelaide with my cousin who had to do hers for her B.Nursing clinical placement. So, today, piece of paper pending, I am officially certified to perform first aid and CPR and stuff which is pretty cool. Means that both Renee and I know what to do in case of emergency, so I have confidence that when we have kids, we should have most situations covered if we can stay calm enough.

In the meantime today, Renee was babysitting our goddaughter, Laylah while I was at first aid with her mum and her dad was doing some extra work :) Hence the pictures Renee posted just before *grin*

Lah dee dah .. Sunday night and we could both do with a weekend! :P

Shame the firewall migration was so painful both times ;)

As for friend of Renee's, all good. I'm sure almost everyone reading this that knows you two can work it out.

CPR course, good move, I've got a friend doing nursing that has to do it too, might do the same thing. haven't had a first aid cert in YEARS.
