Wherefore art Thou, Easter Bunny?

We managed to get the planets aligned for Easter (our sister-in-law recovering well after treatment, everyone had time off, flights organised) and headed to Marrar for Easter as a family. It made my weekend to see our sister-in-law up and around and recovering so well from brain surgery. By flying there instead of driving, we were there and tired but not exhausted, on the same day we left Adelaide; a 10 hour drive isn't a 10 hour drive with a small child that needs to be entertained and fed constantly :P

Our flight plan HAD been to go Adelaide -> Melbourne -> Wagga Wagga .. REX had other plans for us though and changed our flight from Melbourne to be earlier and also via Albury, which meant we didn't have enough time to change terminals in between flights and we'd have two smaller flights on a small plane. $250 later, we got our Qantas flights changed and we were all set with travel sickness tablets for me .. I wasn't holding high hopes for the toilet roll with wings to be one of my favourite flights of all time *grin*.

We rushed between terminals after landing in Melbourne and then waited. And waited. And ... waited. Our flight ended up being even later than our original flight, which was a bit of a shit. As annoying as it was to have wasted money changing our other flights, it also meant we were arriving later at Wagga. Not much to do but follow the flow though, since we don't have our own wings ;) Surprisingly, the two flights we had on the toilet roll with wings were amazingly good - probably the best I'd felt on a plane in a long time, even though we were flying into a storm in Albury *laugh*. By the way, the flight from Albury to Wagga is 17 minutes. We were stopped in Albury longer than that! :P

Our time in Marrar was quite relaxing for a short weekend off. I got sick late on the Thursday prior to heading out and hadn't successfully gotten my hands on any real Sudafed, so I had a fairly relaxing time whenever Batty headed out with "the girls" :)

Batty and her brother (and sister-in-law) spent a little time looking around nearby Coolamon at a place they were keen on buying once they sold their place in Sydney. Surprisingly for the middle of nowhere, Coolamon is REALLY green and lovely looking :) The news was also starting to come in about our sister-in-law's prognosis. We'd gone from some pretty ratshit news at the start of the illness, to a little light at the end of the tunnel. She actually has a chance of remission even without treatment from this point. It's not the world's best odds, but anything better than nothing is a massive increase, so we're taking it and the hope that goes with treatment on top of that result. Best news of the weekend :D

Easter Sunday dawned (along with rampant giggling and Easter egg hunting from our nephew). Cody had a lie in .. of course. She doesn't sleep when we need her to before we go out, and sleeps late when we want her awake *laugh*. Eventually she woke up and we had a bit of chocolate exchanging goodness. Once the rest of the family arrived around lunchtime, we had an awesome bbq and then the kids had an Easter egg hunt care of Batty's planning :) Cody absolutely loved hunting around for shiny things that would probably bear food of some sort and then continued stealing them from the other kids once everyone was back inside counting their wares. Go Cody ;)

The flight home was pretty uneventful. Ironically, the longer flight from Wagga to Melbourne with calm weather was enough to make me feel horrid, so I guess I'll take a toilet roll in a storm for two take-offs and landings over near perfect conditions ;) We got home on the Monday, more than ready to crash and have a long weekend ;)
